DATA PROCESSED AND PURPOSES

As part of its editorial activities, the Journal may process names, email addresses, ORCID identifiers, institutional affiliations, cities, states or regions, countries, academic qualifications, short biographies, Lattes CV information, submission histories, peer-review reports, editorial decisions, and technical records of access to the system.

These data may be used to register and identify users in the OJS, manage submissions, conduct editorial communications, select peer reviewers, carry out peer review, record editorial decisions, publish articles, register and update DOIs, generate metadata, preserve the scholarly record, produce editorial indicators, and investigate matters related to research integrity.

PUBLICATION AND SHARING

Data required for scholarly identification, such as names, institutional affiliations, ORCID identifiers, countries, and short biographies, may be published on article pages. Email addresses will only be published when there is a defined editorial or scholarly purpose and the data subject has been informed in advance.

Metadata may be shared with scholarly registration, preservation, indexing, and dissemination services, including Crossref, ORCID, the PKP Preservation Network, and other academic infrastructures. Personal data will not be sold or used for purposes incompatible with the Journal’s editorial activities.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Reviewers’ personal data will remain confidential under the Journal’s double-anonymous peer-review system, except where disclosure is required by law or expressly authorized by the data subject.

Manuscripts, peer-review reports, editorial decisions, and communications must be treated confidentially and used exclusively for purposes related to evaluation and publication.

DATA RETENTION

Data may be retained for as long as necessary to ensure the integrity, security, and traceability of the editorial process and the scholarly record.

Inactive accounts may be reviewed, anonymized, or deleted, subject to applicable legal and editorial obligations. Deleting an account does not necessarily require the deletion of information that must be retained to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

DATA SUBJECT RIGHTS

Data subjects may request confirmation that their data are being processed, access to their data, correction, updating, anonymization, restriction, or deletion, where applicable. They may also request information about data sharing and withdraw consent when consent is the legal basis for processing.

Certain data may be retained when necessary to comply with legal obligations, protect the integrity of the editorial process, or maintain the scholarly record.
